Nathalie Doremieux reveals how understanding your wiring can free you from burnout and build a business on your terms.

You've built something real. Twenty years of showing up, solving problems, and making it work. The revenue looks good on paper. But you can't switch off. Still scrolling through your inbox at the dead of night, you wonder:
Is this really what I signed up for?
You're not lazy. You're not ungrateful. You're trapped. And the worst part? You can't figure out if the problem is the business, the market, or you.
Nathalie Doremieux knows that feeling intimately. She spent years thinking she was broken because she wasn't wired like a "natural entrepreneur." Today, she runs a successful business with her husband from France, helps companies build thriving membership sites, and recently launched Podcast Lead Flow, an AI-powered tool solving a problem most podcasters didn't even know they had. But the path to getting there? It involved being fired by her own husband. Twice.
The Painful Truth About Being "Wired Wrong"
Nathalie and her husband Olivier left Silicon Valley in 2005. They'd been living what looked like the dream—software engineering jobs in biotech, making serious money in the right place at the right time. But something was eating at them. Nathalie explained:
"We were picking them up very late and we were like, we want to stop this. We want to move back closer to family."
So they did. Packed up three kids and moved to France to start their own business. The plan was two years. Twenty years later, they're still there. But the early years were brutal, and not because of the market or the technology.
"I was acting as an employee. Not making decisions, not stepping up."
Her husband, the natural visionary, fired her from their own company. Not once, but twice. Imagine building a life around working with your partner, moving continents for freedom, and then being told you're the problem.
Most people would spiral. Nathalie did something harder...she got honest with herself.
The $500,000 Mistake That Changes Everything
Before they figured out their dynamic, Nathalie and Olivier made a mistake that cost them half a million dollars of their own money. They built software without knowing if anyone wanted to buy it:
"We could go back to that if you want. We spent like half a million dollars of our own money into building software, not knowing if people wanted to buy that."
Sound familiar? How many of us have poured resources into solutions nobody asked for...new services, new hires, new systems, without validating the problem first?
The lesson they learned became the foundation of everything they do now: look at a problem that people actually have, then create a solution for it. This isn't just business advice. It's a diagnostic for why you're working 70-hour weeks. Are you solving real problems? Or are you busy building things that feel productive but don't move the needle?
Why a 2 Out of 10 Isn't a Death Sentence
Here's where Nathalie's story takes a turn that might change how you see yourself. At a retreat in Paris, she took an entrepreneurial aptitude test. The room was full of natural-born entrepreneurs scoring 7s, 8s, 10s. Nathalie scored a 2.
"I'm a 2. And I'm like, I have no place in this room"
Her coach, Fabienne Fredrickson, looked at that score and said something Nathalie never forgot: "You're not broken." Not "you need to work harder." Not "you need to develop these skills." Just: you're not broken.
"It just means that now we know," the coach continued. "So you need to find support for these things because I'm not a risk taker."
This is the mindset shift that transforms everything. Knowing yourself isn't about fixing your weaknesses, it's about understanding what trips you up so you can build around it. Nathalie isn't a visionary. She's an integrator. She doesn't have wild ideas, she makes her husband's wild ideas actually happen in the real world. Once they understood this, they stopped fighting their nature and started leveraging it.
"We've been complementing each other very well and now we know that, which is a strength. But when you don't know it, it's not a strength because we constantly don't align."
The 75-Day Experiment That Unlocked Business Transformation
When 2025 rolled around, Nathalie knew their business needed reinvention. They'd been comfortable too long, and comfort is where trapped business owners go to hide. But instead of just grinding harder, she did something unexpected. She started 75 Hard, a brutal 75-day challenge involving twice-daily exercise, strict diet, no alcohol, and unwavering commitment:
"I cannot. I guess I didn't want to stay the same. Something had to change. And I'm turning 54 on Sunday... I've always had in my head, my husband keeps telling me this, 'oh, I'm over 50. I cannot lose that weight."
On day 55, she'd lost 12 pounds. More importantly, she'd proven something to herself about commitment and consistency.
"If you want a big change in an area of your life, it helps if you are also doing something that's really putting you out of your comfort zone in another area."
This isn't about fitness advice. It's about capacity. When you prove you can commit in one area, that certainty bleeds into everything else. The trapped business owner who "can't" delegate, "can't" take holidays, "can't" trust their team, they're not facing business problems. They're facing belief problems:
"We're not lazy, I don't believe that most people are lazy. They are just doing something that's really not what they want to do. Because when you really want to do it, then you find a way."
Building AI Tools That Actually Solve Problems
With their newfound clarity, Nathalie and Olivier applied their problem-first approach to AI. While everyone else was using ChatGPT to write "flat, boring copy," they asked different questions: How can we help membership site users find information faster? How can we improve retention? How can we speed up results?
Their latest venture, Podcast Lead Flow, emerged from another simple observation: podcast hosts have no idea what their show brings to their business.
"I have a podcast. It's got 137 episodes. I have no idea what it brought to my business," Nathalie admits. "Because you don't know your listeners."
So they built a tool that captures listener information and generates personalized follow-up content based on each episode's specific insights. Instead of sending everyone the same generic PDF, listeners answer a few questions and receive customized advice.
"It's an accelerator, it's a multiplier," she says about AI. "You need something good to amplify it. If you give it nothing, then it's going to be plain flat."
The One Thing Every Trapped Business Owner Needs to Know
When asked what she wishes she'd known earlier in her journey, Nathalie doesn't hesitate:
"The biggest thing is probably knowing yourself. And how you're wired."
This isn't soft, fluffy advice. It's operational.
"Because otherwise when you don't get the result, you start to feel lack of self worth. It's me, I'm not good. It's not that you're not good, it's just that you're in the wrong path. You're not using the right tools, you're not supported by the right people."
If you're exhausted, burning out, and wondering why the business you built feels like a prison—the answer might not be another strategy, another hire, or another system. The answer might be understanding what lights you up, what drains you, and designing your role around that truth instead of fighting it.
Taking the First Step
Nathalie's journey proves something important: the path out of the trap isn't always forward. Sometimes it's inward. Before you optimise another process or hire another person, ask yourself: Am I operating in my zone of genius? Or am I grinding through tasks that deplete me while neglecting what actually energizes me?
"Find out how you're wired, know what lights you up, and when you operate within this, you're doing amazing things," Nathalie advises. "And then for the rest, forget about it right now or hire it out or do the minimum."
You're not broken. You might just need to stop fighting who you are.
